Kitenge HEADING_TITLE

Kitenge - the big sister of kanga

The Kitenge (vitenge in plural) is another kind of African textiles, but of a thicker quality, and have usually an edging only a long side. It is printed by using rotary spinning machines. Even kitenge is sold in lengths sufficient to cover ones body. Specific patterns are designed for national holidays, jubilees etc.

African fashion

Kitenge is often used as garments, in the example below as a blouse and long skirt. Notice the wrapping of the skirt, how the front part falls a bit lower than the back part. The latest way to do it in Dar es Salaam!

Baby carrier

As baby carrier we recommend the larger kitenge. Read more about how to carry your baby.

African night

" I was a success at our African Night!" our customer Christine tells us. All work-mates were dresse in African garments from different parts of Africa."

Only your fantasy....

is the limit of how you use these African textiles. Or as one of our  customers wrote and sent us the picture below: "I love this kitenge so much that I first bought the textile, and the chairs after that - just to match it."
